Description

The Floyd Norgaard Cultural Center is a historical public hall, part of the Stanwood Area Historical Society (SAHS) located at: 27130 102nd Ave NW., Stanwood, WA.

The Floyd is available for rental, and a great place for weddings, concerts, arts and music, business events, luncheons, parties, ceremonies and more. It is the first floor of a rehabilitated year 110-year-old historic “western false front” public hall. It has an attached service annex that has restrooms and an equipped serving kitchen. There is also a meeting space on the 2nd floor available for use.

The hall was built by an organization called the Stanwood Fraternal Association – “a company formed exclusively of foresters.” In a 1902 copy of The Coast magazine, it says of Stanwood: “The Foresters have just completed a commodious and beautiful hall at considerable expense, which is a credit to the place.” The early city directories refer to it as the Stanwood Fraternal Hall and name E. Tolin as its manager. Edward Tolin lived in the house between D.O. Pearson House and the Public Hall and in 1893 he was listed as Chief Ranger of Court Stanwood, Ancient Order of Foresters, so there is a good chance he was a part of the group of carpenters that built the hall.
