COVID-19 Impact

CASA is joining in to help keep our community safe. We will be trying to limit foot traffic into the shelter, which in turn will help keep our very small staff healthy so they are able to keep caring for the animals that call CASA home. These animals still need homes so we are not completely stopping services like adoption, but we are moving all remaining services to BY-APOINTMENT-ONLY.

Ring the doorbell for appointments/assistance.

Until further notice, the shelter will be closed to the public for all drop-in services. All remaining services offered will require a pre-planned appointment.

: We will likely be able to facilitate same-day appointments if you contact the shelter early enough. The best form of communication will be email for all hours and by phone during normal staffed hours. We are still offering some major services, but are changing how they take place.

Description

CASA (Camano Animal Shelter Association) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and no-kill managed-admission animal shelter devoted to the care of homeless pets.  Our mission is “bringing together animals in need and caring people, forever enriching their lives.” We accept stray dogs and cats from Camano Island and owner-surrenders from Camano and elsewhere as space permits. Additionally, through a limited contract with Island County we provide temporary care, boarding and redemption services for impounded/seized dogs from Camano Island.

CASA recognizes that finding forever homes for homeless animals is a community effort.  We regularly assist other shelters by taking dogs that have been at their shelter for a prolonged period of time, are facing euthanasia due to space, and/or could really benefit from a change of environment or different exposure. We also work with a variety of rescue groups in order to transfer animals to them when they need more specialized care prior to finding a forever home.

Thanks to the ongoing support from the community, CASA is able to care for almost 600 lost, abandoned and surrendered cats and dogs each year. We have a number of adoption specials throughout the year and every single animal that is adopted from us will go home spayed or neutered and microchipped. Our cats are also FeLV/FIV tested.
